Kaj je menopavza
Menopause-related issues most often arise as a result of a decline in estrogen levels and a consequent potential increase in testosterone (male sex hormone). Women describe symptoms such as hot flashes in the head and neck area, increased perspiration, rapid heartbeat, insomnia, etc.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is often prescribed without preliminary lab tests used to assess hormone levels and conducting a breast examination. Menopause requires an examination by an endocrinologist, gynaecologist, a breast examination, potentially also a bone density analysis (DEXA densitometry) and hormone tests: LH, FSH, E2. A TSH lab test and, if necessary, a thyroid ultrasound and thyroid antibodies (anti-TPO and anti-TG) test are also recommended.
Before HRT, it is recommended to complete coagulation tests, lipid profile, and liver enzyme testing. Based on the findings, when required, treatment is decided upon after a preliminary examination by an internist and endocrinologist, with the objective of identifying any other diseases common at this stage, e.g., hypertension, elevated blood sugar, osteopenia, osteoporosis, metabolic disorders, etc.
