Jelena Raković, MD, PhD was born in 1981 in Niš, Serbia, where she completed primary and secondary schooling with a grade point average of 5.00 and received numerous awards, including the award for the best student of the generation in primary school and a commendation in secondary school. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Niš in 2009 with a 9.27 average. After successfully passing the  diploma recognition exam at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, in 2012, she relocated to Slovenia. After completing a six-month internship at Brežice General Hospital and successfully  passing her professional exam, she decided to specialize in family medicine for the Posavje region. During her specialization, she was employed at Medicina Iljaž, d. o. o., Brežice. She gained work experience at the Brežice General Hospital, Aristotel, Health Centre Krško, and during clinical rotations in the scope of her specialisation at various Novo Mesto General Hospital departments and University Medical Centre Ljubljana. She is engaged in continuous education and participates in various courses and seminars in Slovenia as well as abroad. During her specialisation, as the on-duty doctor, she took part in  emergency medical care within the Brežice General Hospital Emergency Centre. She currently works at the Krško General Hospital Emergency Centre.

In December 2017, she passed her specialist exam with honors and became a family medicine specialist. Since December 2017, she has been employed at the Aristotel Health Centre as a family medicine specialist, continuing the excellent cooperation that began when Dr. Raković first arrived in Slovenia.
